We are pleased to inform you that the 2016 ESLAV-ECLAM Annual Scientific Meeting will be held at the "Berges du Rhône campus" in Lyon (France) from 15 to 18 November 2016.

Workshops

Message from the scientific committee:

"From theory to practice": benefiting from the presence and knowledge of several animal behaviour and welfare experts, the conference scientific committee would like to give conference attendants the opportunity to participate in workshops in addition to the conference held in plenary sessions. These workshops will be the place for an introduction to animal welfare assessment through:

• A concrete introduction based on theoretical (1/2 day) and practical (1/2 day) perspectives to the means/tools and protocols that are being used nowadays to assess the welfare of various animal species,
• An animal welfare evaluation based on species rather than on animal use, specifically aligning animal welfare objectives on species' needs,
• A comparison of the restrictions applied to species depending on practices and environments.

This aim in mind, participants will be required to select a species' group in advance. On Thursday Nov. 17th afternoon, they will discuss applicable regulations, animal welfare assessment tools, critical issues, and prepare for the visit with experts. On Friday Nov. 18th morning, they will conduct on-site animal welfare assessment in small groups led by experts. The workshops and whole conference will end on Friday Nov. 18th early afternoon after participants have shared feedbacks from their practical sessions.

In addition, with the generous support from the Lyon Veterinary School, our aim is also that the workshops are being recognised as a continuous training program.

The full list of workshop opportunities (species and sites) is currently being finalized and will be made available to participants as soon as possible. It is already possible to preregister by selecting the workshop option while registering to the conference.

Registration

In order to benefit from the low registration fees, we invite you to register before 5 October 2016.

Moreover, as November is a particularly busy month in Lyon, we advise you to book your accommodation through Alpha Visa Congrès as soon as possible using the online registration and hotel booking form.

Upon receipt of your registration, we will send you a detailed email confirming your participation along with practical information.

Abstract submission

We invite you to submit an abstract for a poster presentation using the online submission form.
The deadline for abstract submission is 16 September 2016.

The Scientific Committee will evaluate the abstracts and confirm the scientific theme and/or session retained.

All selected abstracts will be published in the abstract book, provided that the presenting author is registered to the Meeting.
