Cytometry Workshop 2018

9-13 April 2018 - Institut Curie - Paris

Bandeau JT AFC 2017

Welcome

The 1st Paris ISAC Cytometry Workshop is jointly organized by the Institut Curie and the Institut Pasteur in collaboration with ISAC (International Society for the Advancement of Cytometry), AFC (Association Française de Cytométrie), and Ciphe (Centre d’immunophénomique, Marseille). The workshop will cover basic and advanced cytometry topics and will consist of lectures and practical modules taught by international experts in the field.

This course will offer a wide range of cytometry applications at all levels, Beginners will learn the basics of flow cytometry, how a cytometer works, fluorochromes, spillover and compensation, and commonly used techniques including proliferation, cell cycle, apoptosis and imaging flow cytometry.

In addition to the option of choosing modules ‘à la carte’, several tracks will focus on specific topics:

  • 1 - The Multicolor flow cytometry and panel design track will cover the theory of panel design, with practical modules on how to design and evaluate a multicolor panel as well as pitfalls and troubleshooting sessions with our faculty experts. Practical modules on standardization and intracellular staining and cell sgnalling techniques will also be included. (Faculty: Pratip Chattopadhyay, Paresh Jain, Hervé Luche, David Hedley, Sue Chow)
  • 2 - The high dimensional data analysis track will introduce users to the principles and applications of high dimensional data analysis, with overviews of the state of the art and tools currently available, and will include practical modules using current software to teach students how to apply these analysis techniques to their own data. The number of students in the hands on sessions will be limited, with preference given to those in need of these techniques for their research. (Faculty: Hervé Luche, Yvan Saeys, Jonathan Irish, Pratip Chattopadhyay)
  • 3 - The cell sorting track will begin with a basic theory and practical module, but will focus on advanced applications: sorter preparation, setup and maintenance, cell preparation and collection best practices, techniques for single cell sorting, index sorting and evaluation of recovery for downstream applications. (Faculty: Geoffrey Osborne, Matthias Schiemann)

Detailed desciptions of modules and faculty bios will be available on this site soon. One month before the course you will be sent a final list of modules to indicate your preferences.

Audience

Open to all those who use flow cytometry in their work :

  • scientists, students and post-docs,
  • technicians, engineers,
  • core facility managers.

This will be useful for both beginning and advanced flow cytometry users.

Conditions of selection

50 places for the practical modules.

Criteria: this course is open to all students interested in flow cytometry applications and will teach basic to advanced flow cytometry. For the high dimensional data analysis track, priority will be given to those who are most in need of high dimensional data analysis for their work.
