SP32 - Antimicrobiens

New antimicrobial strategies

It is well established that bacteria can develop resistance to antibiotics, which represents a major and growing public health concern. A key policy to reverse this trend is to restrict the indiscriminate use of antibiotics. However, the emergence of resistant microbes is inevitable. Therefore, it is essential to continually develop new strategies and antimicrobial compounds. The purpose of this session is to present some ongoing efforts to identify potential new strategies. It will also highlight the molecular aspects of the promising cellular processes that could be targeted.
