Microbial dynamics in urban ecosystems

Urban environments represent rapidly expanding ecosystems where microorganisms play essential yet underexplored ecological and functional roles. This session aims to bring together researchers investigating microbial ecology, diversity, dynamics and functions across urban habitats, from built environments to urban waters and atmosphere. By integrating ecological, environmental and health perspectives, the session will highlight how microorganisms contribute to urban ecosystem functioning, adaptation, resistance and/or resilience in the Anthropocene era.
