Bats are reservoir species for multiple viruses, however interestingly most of the time they do not appear to be affected by diseases linked to those viruses! Adaptations within the bat immune system are considered to be associated with viral tolerance. The keynote by an expert during this plenary session will provide an opportunity to summarize what is known about these animals' incredible immune systems and to better understand the bats’ virus reservoir is able to carry viruses potentially responsible for spillovers in humans.
