Welcome to FairCarboN International Conference
Continental ecosystems play a key role in the global carbon cycle. Nature-based solutions tailored to these ecosystems are expected to contribute to climate change mitigation, both by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and by storing more carbon in soils, biomass, and sediments. This contribution must be achieved in the context of a rapidly changing climate while ensuring food security, biodiversity and overall ecosystem health. This immense challenge requires the development and sharing of in-depth scientific knowledge across a wide bench of disciplines, from biophysical to socio-economic sciences, and of study scales, from molecular determinants of photosynthesis to ecosystem scale.
The ‘Carbon Matters! From land to coast’ conference aims to bring together the international scientific community working on carbon to share emerging knowledge, enabling better quantification, understanding, prediction and governance of carbon stocks and fluxes in continental ecosystems.
This conference will benefit from scientific and organizational support from the French FairCarboN program (https://www.pepr-faircarbon.fr)
