Bienvenue à Marseille,

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

On behalf of ESLAV, LAVA and the ComVet AFSTAL, we are honoured to invite you to our joint scientific meeting entitled

VETS FOR LIFE!
Good science and good animal welfare go hand in hand

to be held from Sunday 26th to Tuesday 28th, September, 2010 in Toulouse, France.

This shared meeting will be a perfect occasion to expand your professional and personal network and exchange views in a friendly and pleasant atmosphere. The meeting is also open to non-members of ESLAV, LAVA and the ComVet AFSTAL.

The program will cover various subjects of topical interest for veterinarians working in the field of laboratory animals from both a scientific and practical perspective. The program themes include:
- How to become an ECLAM Diplomate
- Update on New Regulations
- Scientific Procedures and the Veterinarian’s Perspective
- Anaesthesia, Analgesia and Surgery
- ESLAV-ECLAM Foundation Grant Presentation.

The meeting will also give you an opportunity to present your own work and applications for oral presentations and posters will be warmly welcomed! Please note that ESLAV and ECLAM this year will provide Scientific Support Bursaries both for the Best Lecture and the Best Poster!

After opening the Scientific Meeting on Sunday afternoon, we will start the social program on Sunday evening with a get together cocktail where we will also celebrate the tenth year of ECLAM, the European College of Laboratory Animal Medicine. Then, on Monday evening all attendees are invited to join us for a Gala Dinner and bring their partners!

We hope that this year the Meeting will be as successful as our previous events. This depends on the enthusiasm of the Organizing and Scientific Committees, the quality and the expertise of the speakers, the generosity of our sponsors but mostly on your attendance. We would like to thank all in advance for your support.

Toulouse has earned its name of the “Ville Rose” from reflections of golden light from the brickwork. Located in the heart of the Midi region, the history of the city dates back to the Neolithic (New Stone) age but is probably best known as a bastion of the Cathars, when the city repeatedly withstood catholic crusaders. Nowadays, Toulouse is the home of the European aerospace industry, the fourth biggest University town and fourth largest city of France. The City Center is a mixture of historical monuments, small streets and modern buildings. In September, we are hoping for « Indian Summer » weather. The organizers have prepared a vibrant social program that takes advantage of all that the City and surrounding area has to offer.

We are looking forward to see you enjoy both the meeting and this beautiful southern setting!
