Welcome to ASIC 2027
Message from the President
It is with great pleasure that we invite you to participate in the next ASIC Conference, which will be held in Poços de Caldas, Minas Gerais, Brazil, from May 31 to June 6, 2027.
This conference will bring together scientists, industry professionals, producers, and all those involved in the coffee sector to exchange the latest advances in coffee research, innovation, sustainability, quality, and production systems. The event will begin with an opening ceremony and welcome dinner on May 31, followed by three days of scientific sessions from June 1 to 3. Participants will also have the opportunity to take a field trip on June 4th to visit Fazenda Mió, learn about its production system, and gain context for specialty coffee production. On June 5th, participants can visit tourist attractions around Poços de Caldas before the conference concludes on June 6th.
The 2027 conference will have a particularly special significance, as it is being organized as the main international celebration of the 300th anniversary of the introduction of coffee into Brazil. Over the past three centuries, Brazil has played a central role in shaping the global coffee sector, becoming the world's largest coffee producer and one of the most important centers of coffee science, innovation, and culture. The theme of this year’s conference will be ‘Changing Coffee Science in the Digital Era’.
To commemorate this historic milestone, the conference will feature a series of special lectures, historical retrospectives, and tributes recognizing the individuals, institutions, and generations of coffee growers, scientists, and industry leaders who have contributed to the remarkable development of Brazilian coffee. These celebrations will complement the scientific program and provide a unique opportunity to reflect on the past, present, and future of coffee.
This conference represents a unique opportunity to gather specialists from all over the world working on different aspects of coffee science and technology. During the conference, all possible aspects of coffee science will be developed and the participants will be able to hear and share novelties on the different following topics:
- Agronomy (genetics, genomics, botany, agrotechnology, pests and diseases, sustainability, agroecology, impact of climate change, etc.);
- Chemistry (coffee analysis, chemical composition, aroma, etc.);
- Technology (green coffee processing, roasting, grinding, extraction, decaffeination, etc.);
- Health Impact (coffee consumption and health effects).
We look forward to welcoming you to Minas Gerais, one of the world's most renowned coffee-producing regions, for what promises to be a memorable and inspiring gathering of the global coffee community.
