Visa Information for Brazil
Visa Procedure
Visitors to Brazil must obtain a Brazilian visa from a Brazilian Embassy or Consulate office worldwide, or online through the official eVisa portal, unless they come from one of the visa-exempt countries. Visas are not issued on arrival. All visitors must hold a passport valid at least for 6 months beyond the date of entry.
Visa exempt countries
Most nationalities may enter Brazil without a visa. Exceptions and specific conditions are as follows:
- Citizens of the following countries may enter Brazil for 90 days without a visa (within any 180-day period): all 27 European Union member states, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Russia, Ukraine, Serbia, Türkiye, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Mexico, New Zealand, South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia, Namibia and Cape Verde.
- Citizens of Mercosur and associated South American countries (Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador) may enter Brazil for 90 days without a visa and may travel with a national identity card instead of a passport.
- Citizens of the People's Republic of China holding an ordinary passport may enter Brazil for 30 days without a visa. Participation in conferences and congresses is expressly covered. This measure currently applies until 31 December 2026 and should be reconfirmed before booking.
- Citizens of the United States, Canada and Australia are NOT visa-exempt. Since 10 April 2025 they must obtain an eVisa before travelling, including for congress attendance, business and airport transit.
Apart from the above exemptions, visitors must have a Brazilian visa before entering Brazil. This applies in particular to most African countries, to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines, and to Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon.
Brazilian visa before entering Brazil
The Brazilian Immigration authorities provide the following services:
- Citizens of the United States, Canada and Australia can personally apply for an eVisa online. The fee is USD 80.90, the visa is valid for 10 years with multiple entries, and stays of up to 90 days are permitted. Applications should be submitted at least 15 days before departure, and preferably one month ahead.

- All other nationalities requiring a visa must apply for a visitor visa (VIVIS) at the Brazilian Embassy or Consulate in their country of residence. Processing usually takes 5 to 15 working days.

Letter of invitation
Registered participants who need a letter of invitation to support their visa application may request one from the congress secretariat. A letter of invitation does not guarantee that a visa will be granted.
Visa regulations may change at short notice. Delegates are strongly advised to check the requirements applicable to their nationality with the nearest Brazilian Embassy or Consulate and to start the process as early as possible.
