Welcome to the 5th Hemipteran-Plant Interactions Symposium
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is our great pleasure to invite you to attend the 5th International Hemipteran-Plant Interactions Symposium (HPIS), which will take place from July 6 to 8, 2026, in Montpellier, France.
Hemipterans’ unique feeding habits, great dispersal capacity, high population growth rate, and ability to adapt and exploit new habitats contribute to making them the most damaging agricultural pests worldwide. Due to their primary role as vectors of plant pathogens, they are well-known drivers of the emergence of new and existing plant viral and bacterial diseases.
At HPIS in Montpellier, an international community of scientists will gather to exchange ideas and foster collaborations across disciplines, thereby empowering the advancement of our knowledge on plant feeding hemipterans.
Two satellite events will be held on July 9-10, 2026, in conjunction with the symposium:
- The 2nd European EPG Workshop organised on the Vectoplante hosted by the Plant Health Institute Montpellier on the Baillarguet Campus, Montpellier, France. Information and registrations at https://epg.csic.es/.
- The MicroVec Symposium, a meeting of an international network working towards the manipulation of Hemipteran vectors of plant pathogenic bacteria via insect microbiome modifications.
