EFP 2026

29 June to 3 July 2026 - MHS Sud - Montpellier - France

Code of Conduct

EFP 2026 is dedicated to providing a bullying and harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, ethnicity, religion, status or technology choices. Harassment includes speech and/or actions that are considered to be personally offensive or not welcome. We encourage lively and spirited communication and debate, in an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere, throughout all sessions and social events associated with the conference.

The EFP is an all-inclusive federation focused on encouraging all areas of non-human primatological scientific research, facilitating cooperation among scientists of all nationalities engaged in primate research, and promoting the conservation of all primate species. We support and encourage research on primates from undergraduate and graduate students, research scientists and professionals, and university faculty from European institutions, as well as from other countries around the world. As such, we encourage respectful exchanges of ideas, acknowledging that English may not be the first language of participants and that there may be cultural differences in communication styles. We do not condone elitism in words or actions by faculty toward students, by senior to junior professionals, or peers, or among individuals with different levels of expertise.

Attendees commit to avoiding all forms of bullying and harassing behaviour. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion, or nationality;
  • Behaviours which have the effect of excluding others from active participation in the conference due to their gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion, or nationality;
  • Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following;
  • Any photography or recording taken without prior consent;
  • Sustained disruption of talks or other events;
  • Inappropriate physical contact or unwelcome sexual attention;
  • Placing junior colleagues in a position where they may feel unable to reject attentions without disruption to their research or career;
  • Using a position of power to belittle the intellectual contributions of others;
  • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behaviour.

We are committed to fostering a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming environment throughout the conference. We hope that all attendees feel safe, valued, and supported. If at any point someone makes you feel unsafe or unwelcome, please don’t hesitate to reach out to a member of the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Committee from EFP. You can report concerns in the following ways:

  • In person: Approach any designated EDI committee member (a list of names will be provided) during the conference. We will be happy to speak with you and can find a quiet and private place to talk.
  • By email: Contact us at edi4efp@gmail.com.
  • Online: Use our [anonymous reporting form] (link to come).

If you want to make a report, please use our online form, for which you can optionally include or exclude your name. Additionally, if you would like to contact one of our EDI committee members and you are happy for us to know your name, please submit an email to edi4efp@gmail.com. Both the form and the email will be monitored throughout the conference.

All reports will be treated with seriousness and confidentiality. Thank you for helping us create a safe and respectful space for everyone.

If you report an incident to us, we will take all feasible actions to keep you safe and to prevent further harm. We will try to obtain your consent for any action we take unless the action is immediately necessary to protect the safety of you and other attendees. This could include, for example, a verbal or written warning to the perpetrator or, in more serious cases, barring them from the conference. We can also help you liaise with other support services when appropriate. We will treat your report in the strictest confidence unless there is a need to break confidentiality due to a risk of serious harm to you or others. While we recognize that behavior that is acceptable to one person may not be acceptable to another, and that misunderstandings do occur, we will not hesitate to act if asked to address an unsafe, abusive or threatening situation.
