Bandeau - EFP 2026

Plenary Speakers

C-WEBB

Christine WEBB

New York University, USA

+

An assistant professor involved in Animal Studies program, Christine’s work seeks to elucidate the complex dynamics of animal social life, and to apply this knowledge to foundational questions in animal ethics and conservation. She is further interested in how prevailing societal norms, values, and institutions shape contemporary scientific knowledge of other animals and the environment, with a critical emphasis on human exceptionalism.

L-SAMUNI

Liran SAMUNI

German Primate Center, Germany

+

A field primatologist with extensive research in great apes, Liran combines behavioural observation with endocrinology to explore cooperation and social evolution. Her work provides critical insights into the mechanisms underlying sociality in our closest living relatives.

A-MALDONADO

Angela MALDONADO

Fundación Entropika, Colombia

+

Director of an award-winning NGO, Angela has dedicated her career to conserving Neotropical primates and combating wildlife trafficking in the Colombian Amazon. Her plenary will illustrate how science, policy and community engagement can be successfully combined to deliver lasting conservation impact.

P-IZAR

Patricia IZAR

University of São Paulo, Brazil

+

A leading figure in South American primatology who has been particularly active at implementing EDI practices, Patricia studies behavioural ecology and cognition in Neotropical primates. She will share her perspectives and experiences on equity, diversity and inclusion in research, in the context of her own research.

K-BALASUBRAMANIAM

Krishna BALASUBRAMANIAM

Anglia Ruskin University, UK

+

An early-career researcher, Krishna investigates the links between animal behavioural and microbial ecologies. His work highlights how animal sociality might influence their adaptive responses to changing, human-impacted environments, and in turn the acquisition and assembly of pathogenic and commensal microbes among wildlife hosts. His work has implications for primate conservation and One Health initiatives.
