An assistant professor involved in Animal Studies program, Christine’s work seeks to elucidate the complex dynamics of animal social life, and to apply this knowledge to foundational questions in animal ethics and conservation. She is further interested in how prevailing societal norms, values, and institutions shape contemporary scientific knowledge of other animals and the environment, with a critical emphasis on human exceptionalism.

An early-career researcher, Krishna investigates the links between animal behavioural and microbial ecologies. His work highlights how animal sociality might influence their adaptive responses to changing, human-impacted environments, and in turn the acquisition and assembly of pathogenic and commensal microbes among wildlife hosts. His work has implications for primate conservation and One Health initiatives.
